Stretch and Purr
Image
do you think kitty cats are wise? Do you ever wonder why they perform long drawn out stretches when they wake up from one of their umm, many cat naps? The reason of course is that it not only feels good but it's also the healthy thing to do. Learn to do stretching exercises when you wake up. It boosts circulation and digestion, and eases back pain. When you stretch, ease your body into position until you feel the stretch and hold it for about 25 seconds. Breathe deeply to help your body move oxygen-rich blood to those sore muscles. Don't bounce or force yourself into an uncomfortable position.

Not sure what to do for stretches and want to make sure you don't injure yourself? On the next meditation morning Terry will be teaching a few awesome Chi Kung stretches combined with breathing exercises that will be sure to get you sounding like a feline with a roar.  Okay maybe not roar but when it comes to the matter of your health account, it will be well worth your weight in gold to learn and perhaps leave you purring like a happy little kitty cat.

ZaZen and Chi Kung Saturday Morning Meditation Session
www.InnerOuterYou.com
On the this meditation Terry will guide you magically through two exquisite types of meditation. Both date back over millennia and have been used for stilling the mind, bringing balance and healing to mind and body as well as leading towards enlightenment.

The first meditation Terry will lead is called Zazen and it's a type of meditation unique to Zen Buddhism that functions at the heart of the practice. In Japanese za means "sitting" and zen means "meditation" and so on this day Terry will lead you through "sitting meditation" Zazen style to start the day.

Next Terry will guide you gently through the movements of Chi Kung. In Taoism, chi refers to the living energy in all things. Kung is a term that refers to the achievements of long practice. Together, as Chi Kung, these words describe a relationship between someone who cultivates the chi and the discipline through positioning that they exercise.

Terry has been practicing and teaching both Zen meditation and Chi Kung for over 20 years. You will enjoy the way that he leads you first through Zazen, or sitting meditation and then gently and beautifully transitions you into Chi Kung, or moving meditation.

Saturday, April 12th 10am - 12pm

The fee for this two hour meditation is $20.00

Bring a friend and you pay only $10.00

Our Next Social - A Walk Along The Etobicoke Creek
Image
I would like to thank everyone who came out to our last social outing at the Fo Gaung Shan Temple in Mississauga for lunch, a short tour and the brief talk I gave. You can see us in this picture with the exception of Danielle from our group who was taking this great picture. Thank you Danielle!

OUR NEXT SOCIAL OUTING will be a walk from Marie Curtis Park (by Lake Ontario) up following the Etobicoke Creek. Terry grew up in this area and knows it well. There will be lots to see as Terry points out fish spawning areas, hidden trails, old swimming and inter-tubing spots (yes he actually swam in the creek as a kid and is still alive to talk about it!) and First Nations People settling areas along the creek where as a kid Terry found old arrow heads and foundations still left on the ground. Being in the right environment, Terry will also lead a short Mindfulness nature exercise on the walk..

All are welcome to join us for this leisurely approximately 2.5 hour good for your mind, body and spirit walk.

If you are interested in joining us please R.S.V.P me via the link to the contact form below. Or you can call me at 416-732-0429 and let me know you are attending.

Video Clips from Vipassana Morning Meditation

Terry Hodgkinson leads a two hour introductory seminar in Vipassana Meditation. This video contains basic but excellent points and questions answered by Terry that took place on the day of the meditation seminar. You can follow along with it and do your own meditation as if you were right with us on that meditation day.

On another note I would like to say thank you to Frank Nocera who was unable to attend the regularly scheduled Vipassana meditation morning but did not want to miss out. So instead, he hired me on another day to lead a private session for his family and friends. Well done Frank, that's being committed and making sure you get your meditation session in one way or another!

You Are Invited to my Friend Russell's Book Launch
Image
I want to invite you to a wonderful event next week.

A special friend is giving a mini-seminar and  book launch April 10, for his new book "Awakening the Guru in You".

The book appeals to spiritual seekers who have always wanted the "aha" of Awakening but haven't found it yet.

Russell presents a revolutionary method of opening up to your inner truth called "Co-evolution" that combines self-inquiry with deep listening and communication.

It's kind of like an east/west approach to deeper insight and inner wholeness but without the dogma of religion.

I've been on one of his retreats and the method is quite powerful. It was very transformational.

He's also an accomplished song smith and he'll be singing a few songs from his CD Mastery.

It should be a great evening and I hope you can make it.

How Many Do You See?

Neurobics for your mind. It's time to have some fun while also improving your Brain Wellness. Did you know taking some time out to do things like;  brushing your teeth with your 'other' hand, taking a new route to work or choosing your clothes based on sense of touch rather than sight can help keep your brain well?. People with mental agility tend to have lower rates of Alzheimer's disease and age-related mental decline. When your brain is used to think differently you are  activating the brain's own biochemical pathways and bringing new pathways online that can help to strengthen or preserve your brain circuits. So with that in mind puzzles are another fun way to keep your brain healthy.
It's always good to share great things. Please take a moment of your time to share this Newsletter with your friends on social media sites, I would truly appreciate your support. Thank you
