"Man stands in his own shadow and wonders why it's dark." ~Zen Proverb
recently, I did one of those random quizzes on Facebook. I don't usually do
them but this time I thought I would, after one of my friends completed it, and then sent it to me. It was nothing hard, general questions only. I apparently aced it and was awarded with the title, "Sponge-Like Brain". Yay...I think? Our brains really are "sponge-like:" they absorb a lot of information - not all of it is useful, positive, or beneficial for our lives. I've seen far too many of my clients overwhelmed with
negative information, whether it comes via the news, internet, family, work, or the social circles they are a part of. When this happens, all to often the brain becomes dull: one feels a lack of motivation due to "energy drain," and is less open to new possibilities that could shed light on your shadow self. With the overload of information we are subjected to everyday, it's rather easy to be absorbed into these negative traits and lose our centre. Our centre is where home is, where we are more clear in mind, grounded in heart, and where we feel
inspired! The good news is that whenever you feel disenfranchised or disoriented in life, it's good to know that "home" is closer than you think! Below you will find a centering meditation that I taught a while ago, and it will help to re-energize your whole being! You place your attention on powerful vortices (centres) located at specific points on/in your body, and then
breathe into them. These energy vortices tend to slow up, and even go into hibernation, with too much negative thinking, whether that thinking is the result of a conscious act or an unconscious one. As you follow along with this FREE instructional meditation video I am providing, you will reboot these vortices (centres), get them producing energy, and working more optimally for you again. The more days in a row you practice this meditation, the better the results
get!

The Next Meditation Session with Terry Hodgkinson |
The next public meditation session is scheduled for October 4th, from 10am - 12pm. The fee is $20.00 per person for the two hours. There will be two meditations introduced and practiced on this day. You can read a brief description of both below:
OSHO Gourishankar Meditation Osho says that if the breathing is done correctly in the first stage of this meditation the carbon dioxide formed in the bloodstream will make you feel as high as Gourishankar (Mt. Everest). This "high" is carried into the subsequent stages of soft gazing, soft and spontaneous movement, and silent stillness. Here Sifu Terry Hodgkinson will share one of the meditations he learned at Osho International Meditation Centre in Pune, India. This is a relaxing meditation which includes a breathing technique, gazing softly at a candle or holotropic light and gentle body movements. This blissful experience surrenders us to a feeling of vastness and harmony with the
universe.
Hands on Healing with Qigong Internal Energy
In this meditation Sifu Terry Hodgkinson will show you how to stimulate and increase your internal Chi (energetic power) and then use it to nourish different parts of your body like the heart, lungs, kidneys, digestive system etc. Any soreness in the body will be treated as well.

Removing the Skepticism Regarding Meditation |
as ABC news correspondent Dan Harris openly admits at the beginning of the video, he too was once a skeptic of meditation. His turning point came through the science that backed the benefits it could have on our immune system, brain and ability to be present in the current moment amongst other things. My personal turning point came in just trying it out. Much like with
anything else we've never done before, our mind will always be quick to construct judgments and stories to prevent us from stepping outside of our current box.

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and Meditation |
h ave you heard of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? It's been a huge hit and has taken the internet by storm. At first I thought it was just crazy, everyone doing the challenge more for attention than for the charity. I had a number of nominations from friends while traveling on business and then I read an article how it was helping the ALS initiative. So I decided to do it,
the only difference being that I chose to meditate while doing it. What I wasn't ready for was the need to breathe when that ice cold water was poured slowly over my head.

My Friend Sensei Bodhihanna - A Modern Day Woman Warrior in the Art of Zen Archery. |
I have always been interested in Zen archery, read many articles on its tradition, but never had the opportunity to take classes, until that day. Having a history in traditional martial arts, I figured there would be some similarities, so I was looking forward to joining in. Our teacher was a German lady who went by the name of Bodhihanna. She was calm, methodical, and stern in her
teaching. She wouldn't hesitate to...
