"Our sins are more easily remembered than our good deeds"
~ Democritus
since all evil acts come down to disobedience against god, are all evil acts equivalent? Is no sin worse than any other sin? If one sin is worse than another sin does that imply that one act can be more disobedient than another act? Hmm good questions I would say. First lets review the 7 deadly sins shall we...

Poor sloth, they are really pretty cool. I've seen them more than a few times taking their time crossing a road or climbing a tree in Costa Rica. I think they are just so in the moment that they are blissed out all the time. When you're blissed out like that...well let's just say there is no need to move fast!

I'm not one to believe in labels such as those like the 7 deadly sins. I personally believe a sin is anything that takes you away from the peace and harmony you have or could have within you. The exception being of course someone who is psychotic and their peace and harmony consists of causing or wanting the suffering of other living beings or things. On the most part, I like to think that we all know right from wrong and that which brings us closer to or further away from inner peace; as much as to what brings us closer to or further away from inner conflict and needless suffering.

I'm sure you know the 10 commandments or have at least heard about them; after all, they have only been around for a little over 2000 years! I wonder though if you have heard of "The Neo-Pagan Ten Commandments" by Marian Singer, author of Magickal Guidelines for Everyday Life? Here's how her version goes. I quite like it:

The Neo-Pagan Ten Commandments

1. Thou art God/dess.
2. As above, so below; as within, so without.
3. Spirit abides in all things; words & names have power.
4. Maintain an attitude of gratitude (walk the talk).
5. Honor the ancestors, teachers, elders, and leaders.
6. All life is sacred.
7. All acts of love and pleasure are sacred.
8. Whatever you send out returns threefold.
9. Love is the law, love under will.
10. For the greatest good, an’ it harm none.

Transforming the Negative Perceptions of Self - A Dalai Lama Meditation

1. OSHO Nadabrahma Meditation

Nadabrahma is the humming meditation – through humming and hand movements conflicting parts of you start falling in tune, and you bring harmony to your whole being. Then, with body and mind totally together, you “slip out of their hold” and become a witness to both. This watching from the outside is what brings peace, silence and bliss.

“So in Nadabrahma, remember this: let the body and mind be totally together, but remember that you have to become a witness. Get out of them, easily, slowly, from the back door, with no fight, with no struggle.” Osho

The meditation lasts an hour, and there are three stages. Your eyes remain closed throughout.

2. Transforming the Negative Perceptions of Self

The Dalai Lama not only recommends this meditation but practices it himself everyday.

The Dalai Lama tells us that there is nothing else necessary because just by seeing your negative left-side self, you will become so disgusted with yourself when you witness yourself acting in any of the left side ways that you will automatically cease any of those actions and start doing and feeling the right-side actions. Eventually, you will become the right-side you exclusively. Eventually, you will have peace, compassion, wisdom, good health, patience, and all the other glorious aspects of life.

This technique has the potential to change your life profoundly for the better. It is one of the best antidotes for negativity. It is consistent with his unlimited compassion that the Dalai Lama has shared it with us.
