When you face your fears it's amazing the transformation that can take place and how that very transformation can generalize into other areas of your life.
When I was a kid, my father took me to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) fair grounds and we took a picture together holding a small snake. I remember hating it as I was really uncomfortable holding the snake. The reason was that as a kid I was bitten by a snake as I was attempting to grab it. My
parents were concerned so they took me to the hospital to make sure it wasn't poisonous. Every since that time, I was a little frightened of snakes, thinking about that one that bit me.
After years of meditation and martial arts training, I faced a lot of my fears and realized how many of
them were an illusion created by my own mind. So in the year 2000 I was spending time in Rishikesh, India studying meditation and Yoga and saw a local man with a snake. I had an overwhelming urge to overcome my fear and make friends with snakes again.
