I began meditating at age 14, where it was a required part of my martial arts classes when I started training in Kung Fu. At first I wasn't liking it much, being a teenager I just wanted to
get up and kick and punch a lot! However, after a few months of doing it consistently, I noticed some big changes with my thinking and in the stability of my emotions. After six months of consistent, weekly meditation where I was really noticing the positive results, no one had to make me meditate ever again. I was quite eager to continue it all by myself!
Science has come a long ways since I was a teenager, a time when meditation was referred to as the "hippie thing to do". Research over the last few decades has done incredible justice bringing meditation into the spotlight, where there is greater awareness and acceptance. Still not enough people truly understand the significance meditation has on
our mind and body...right down to the genes!
Dr. Mea-Wan Ho is co-founder and director of the London based Institute of Science and Society. She published a brilliant article
called: How The Mind Changes Genes through Meditation. I've included the link to her article below, I hope you will take a few minutes to read it over. It just might blow your mind...but in a good way! :)
One of the reasons I lead retreats is so I can share what I've been practicing and teaching with meditation, Qigong & Tai Chi, in some of most interesting and sacred places around the world. I hope you will join me and enjoy the experience for yourself. As many others have said; "you will be forever thankful that you did!".
