I enjoy leading people on spiritual adventure retreats to China and India and a lot of that has to do with the shared history and wealth of spirituality from these
countries.
When I was but a grasshopper, barely a teenager, I learned from training martial arts about the connection and amazing insights these two countries brought to the world; Bodhidharma was an Indian Buddhist Monk who traveled to China and more specifically to the Shaolin Temple, where he began to teach Dhyana. Dhyana is the sanskrit word for meditation.
Later Dhyana became known as Chan meditation in China after it mixed with the native philosophy of Taoism. It would then spread to Japan where it was called Zen, in Korea it became known as Som and Thailand it was known as Thien. In the short video below I explain it a little more.
