 Inner Outer You Insights
Newsletter
you might know that I have a long history with the martial arts. In this life time, I started out as a student at age 12 and began teaching at age 16. At 19 I was managing my first martial arts school and by age 23  I owned my first school. The training wasn't always easy and my teachers were not always the most enlightened but the personal growth experiences I had over the years were well worth the challenging times. I can say without a doubt that my attitude in continuing my martial arts training evolved from the rudimentary self defense aspirations and over time flowered into the essence of Zen Buddhism. How do I know this for sure you ask? Well that's a topic for another newsletter.

I would like to share with you however this incredible painting that my friend and obviously gifted Ed Parker Jr. produced for me.

Mr. Parker is a unique individual who has taken the time to explore the very concept of the word "art" and has developed his creative expression of it in a number of different ways. This is the sign of not just an average martial artist but an extraordinary one! A person who can look beneath the surface of common reality and see more than meets the eye.

In our conversations Ed has said on a number of occasions that while his name is made famous from his late father who is known the world over as Grand Master Ed Parker - Father of American Kenpo, this actually matters little to him. While Ed continues to teach Kenpo Karate and his own martial arts style called Paxtial Arts, he has told me that he enjoys being a simple person, one who has a passion for and takes his art work (especially painting) seriously.

I'm thankful for both Ed and his father. It was his fathers influence in martial arts that also influenced many of my teachers and their teachers ultimately leading to my influence. Through Ed Jr. and our conversations it's great to know there are other long time martial artists who don't take themselves or martial arts too seriously. Rather they look for the deeper message and meaning that applies to all of life. This is something many modern day martial artists have little clue about and have yet to discouver.

Thank you Ed Parker Jr. for creating a painting of me but more so for taking your time to really capture the essence of who I have become in the many years of my martial arts training.

The Last Meditation Session Before I leave for India
www.InnerOuterYou.com
"Go deeper into your meditation, deeper into calmness. Deeper into the centre of your being where you know who you are without any doubt." - Terry Hodgkinson

Morning Satsang-Meditation Session will be held on:

Saturday, October 19th 10 am - 12pm

"Last Saturday, I spent the morning meditating under Terry's guidance. My experience was illuminating. Terry provided an introduction to meditation - he is pure in his word(s) and teaching(s) and this type of teaching can only come from lived experience and wisdom. I will be returning and will learn more. Thanks again Terry."

India Here We Come

Well the group is packed and ready. Well... maybe not packed but ready. Well...maybe not packed or ready but they are going. Haha, with only a little over a week to go they are quite excited about seeing, breathing, hearing, and tasting India.
Our first stop is in New Delhi where we will gather and I will help the group become acclimatized. Oh yes, you bet it takes some getting used to the big cities of India. Next we are going to Dharamsala, residence of the Dalai Lama and thousands of Tibetan Buddhist monks. Then over to Shimla where we visit and take part in a ceremony at the Monkey God Temple. Next stop is Rishikesh, the self proclaimed yoga capital of India.

This will be a trip that will open eyes and touch hearts and souls no doubt and I'm so looking forward seeing how the people in my group experience India. I told them that there will be the good the bad and magical, but it's all India.

If you would like to read a little more about our journey through India you can vist the link below and see some pictures of the areas we will be visiting. Wish us luck!
Happy Birthday and My Thanks to Frank Nocera
I would like send out a big thank you to Frank for hiring me to come out and teach meditation for his birthday party! We started off doing some Qi Qong moves in his awesome backyard with the sound of a near by waterfalls and pond. Later we moved inside to his den and practiced some candle and chanting meditations. What a great way to bring in a Birthday! Thanks again Frank.

Recently I have started doing podcast shows with the theme being on personal development topics. It's nice to get recognized as a published author and have other professionals ask you to take part in events like this. My first episode is on "Staying Centered in a Fast Paced, Rocky World" There are some good tips here for anyone who is interested in acquiring such skills.
My Good Friend Russell Scott's Book is Now Available
I am proud to say I have just received my long time friend Russell's autographed book in the mail today. I know he has been working on it for a long time so I'm looking forward to reading it. There are people in the personal development and spiritual industry who have ghost writers do their books and then call them their own work and then there are people like Russel and myself, who have taken the time to write our own books. While it's  not an easy task it's well worth in the end. I have known Russell for many years and I know his book will be filled with awesomeness.  Drum Roll Please....Introducing my Intro Video
Image
I have been involved in the personal development health and healing industry for many years. I have traveled far and wide to learn many great tools and resources that I use in my health clinic today. As well as using them in my seminars and my professional coaching practice.

Not that long ago I was with some people who were benefiting from a few of the products I use with my clients to improve their mind and body well-being and they were so blown away they asked if they could make me a video. So I have my first short company video telling you a little about myself, some of the healing modalities I work with and my published book.

I hope you will have a look at it and if you feel so inclined share it on your social networking sites. That would be a big help. Thank you.
